Our studio is located at the Ruskin Glass Centre in the historic Stourbridge Glass Quarter. It is fully accessible, with lift access, disabled toilets on site, and a height-adjustable workbench that is ideal for wheelchair users. All of our classes and courses are beginner-friendly and designed to be inclusive and welcoming to everyone, although our lampworking classes do require a reasonable level of manual dexterity.
We pride ourselves on offering a safe, friendly, and enjoyable environment. From time to time, Sarah’s small dogs, Polly and Ken, may be in the studio, so let us know if this could be an issue for you and we can sort something out. Workshop Types
Borosilicate
Boro glass is also known as Pyrex or hard glass. It it the most forgiving glass and lends itself well to sculptural pieces. It’s like glass blowing and sculpting on a small scale. It’s suitable for beginners and is an amazingly therapeutic experience!
Lampwork
Lampwork glass is shaped by a torch, and molded into detailed, vibrant beads, and sculptures. The artist controls the flame to craft each lampwork piece with precision and color.
Mosaic
Mosaic is an ancient technique, traditionally using small ceramic tiles.
These days mosaics are created using a variety of things, from glass and ceramic tiles, to broken crockery and found items.
It’s very easy to do and extremely relaxing!
